A blog about design and bunnies and everthing in between

  • Finally, I found another for my list. The Cooper chair is from New York based Dwellstudio. Unfornunatlly not available in Europe. How I would love to read a book in this one!

  • One of the other chairs I posted about, the one from de vorm, kept reminding me of another classic Dutch chair. De Utrecht or Metz chair was designed by Rietveld for Metz & Co in 1936. It was his design for an easy chair. It typically has woolen fabric and white stitches. Cassina has the rights of Rietveld’s designs so they produce the chairs.

  • Two charming Danish designs in one picture. The Ru chair (Shane Schneck for Hay) is very solid and functional. Not only can you stock and gang this chair but also hang them on the tables, when you need to clean your floor. You can choose one of the 7 different colors.

Now, the other design that i’m in love with is the Wood lamp (Taf architects for Muuto). Just look at the clean lines and the use of material.

  • I saw this chair in a store the other day, it had a ochre yellow fabric, which fits so well with the robust wooden armrests. I love the simplicity of the design and the sort of Scandinavian mid century style. Apparently, it’s made by a young Dutch brand called De vorm. They work with young designers, in this case Annet Neugebauer, and their products are made in Holland as well.

  • Last week I posted the Womb chair of Eero Saarinen. It reminded me of the Slow chair, designed by the bothers Bouroullec for Vitra in 2007. To me it looks like a newer version. It is also designed to sit in different positions and also has two pillows to find the best position.

The nice thing about this version is the knitted textile. This way it is better for you back and because it’s see through appearance it does not look so colossal in your living room.

  • In my search for the perfect armchair, I found Eero Saarinen’s Womb chair. Just like the papa bear chair, it also give me the feeling of being safe and sound. The great thing about this chair is that it is designed for people who like to sitting in weird positions, like me. It is also a perfect combination of my love for Finland and the fifties.

  • This wobbly chair from the Dutch design Pepe Heykoop  just won first prize at design contest in Cologne. You still need to be a bit carefull not to fall backwards but the chair itself does not mind the moving.
